Its shape and overall design deliberately follow the character of traditional Korean bows closely, but the model is not an exact historical replica.

It was not designed to reproduce one particular surviving bow or historical manufacturing method.

Gakgung and Korean archery heritage

The historical Korean Gakgung is officially listed by the Korea Heritage Service as a "Horn Bow." Traditional bow and arrow making, known as Gungsijang, has been designated Korean national intangible heritage since 1971, while traditional archery, Hwalssogi, received national intangible heritage designation in 2020.
