PURE – Carbon Arrow with Natural Feathers
PURE is a complete carbon archery arrow with natural feather fletching, a plastic nock and a 3D screw-in replaceable point. It combines a modern carbon shaft with the traditional appearance of natural feather fletching.
It is mainly intended for archers looking for a carbon arrow for traditional, instinctive, target or 3D archery. When correctly matched for spine, length and point weight, it may also be suitable for selected reflex, Asian and horseback bows.
PURE carbon shaft
The arrow shaft is made from carbon. Carbon provides a modern foundation for building an arrow that can be matched to a specific bow by selecting the correct spine and length.
Correct arrow stiffness does not depend on spine alone. The final behaviour of the arrow is also affected by arrow length, draw length, point weight, bow construction and release technique.
The following factors should be considered:
actual bow draw weight,
draw length,
required arrow length,
spine,
point weight,
bow type and construction,
release method,
shooting technique.
The draw weight written on the bow alone may therefore not be enough to select the correct arrow.
Spine 500, 600, 700 and 800
PURE is available in four spine options:
500
600
700
800
Spine describes the stiffness of the carbon shaft. A lower number generally indicates a stiffer shaft, while a higher number indicates a softer shaft. The correct option must always be selected together with the arrow length and the rest of the setup.
Spine 500
Spine 500 is the stiffest option in this range. The supplier approximately recommends it for bows with a draw weight of 40–47 lb at 762 mm and 35–40 lb at 810 mm.
Spine 600
Spine 600 is the medium option. The supplier approximately recommends it for bows with a draw weight of around 30–35 lb.
Spine 700
Spine 700 is a softer option, approximately suitable for bows with a draw weight of 25–30 lb.
Spine 800
Spine 800 is the softest option in this range. The supplier lists it approximately for bows around 25 lb.
Before ordering, always check spine together with the arrow length, draw length and point weight.
Lengths from 26″ to 32″
The maximum arrow length is 32″, approximately 810 mm.
Available lengths:
32″ / approximately 810 mm
31″ / approximately 787 mm
30″ / approximately 762 mm
29″ / approximately 737 mm
28″ / approximately 711 mm
27″ / approximately 686 mm
26″ / approximately 660 mm
Arrow length must be selected according to the archer's actual maximum draw length. The arrow must have a safe clearance in front of the hand, bow grip or arrow rest.
This is especially important with a longer draw length, thumb draw and certain Asian or horseback archery techniques.
Carbon shaft diameter
The supplier lists an approximate diameter of 7.1 mm for most variants. The spine 500 technical specification lists a diameter of 7.31 mm.
Shaft diameter is not the same as spine.
The final stiffness is also affected by:
arrow length,
spine,
point weight,
draw length,
bow construction,
release method.
Natural feathers in 3″ or 4″
PURE uses natural feather fletching. The 762 mm length is listed with 3″ feathers and the 810 mm length with 4″ feathers.
The spine 800 technical description lists 3″ natural feathers. The exact fletching specification should therefore be checked for the selected spine and length combination.
Available fletching colours:
black and white,
green and black.
Natural feathers are particularly suitable for traditional and instinctive archery. If they contact the bow, bow grip or the archer's hand, they can partially flex.
They may be suitable for:
traditional reflex bows,
longbows,
instinctive archery,
target archery,
3D archery,
selected Asian bows,
selected horseback bows.
3D screw-in replaceable point
The arrow is fitted with a 3D screw-in replaceable point. The screw-in design allows the point to be replaced with a compatible type when required.
The system also allows compatible broadheads or other screw-in points to be used. The exact point weight is not specified in the source data, so it should not be estimated.
Point weight affects total arrow weight, balance point and dynamic arrow behaviour.
Plastic nock
PURE uses a plastic nock.
The nock must be compatible with the specific bowstring and shooting method. Before every shot, check that the nock is not cracked, loose or damaged.
Arrow shortening
The arrow can be shortened from the maximum length of 32″ to 31″, 30″, 29″, 28″, 27″ or 26″.
Shortening a carbon arrow is an irreversible modification. With all other factors remaining equal, a shorter shaft generally behaves stiffer.
We therefore recommend checking the correct combination of spine, length, bow and point weight before shortening.
Shortening costs an additional 10 CZK per arrow.
Traditional, 3D and horseback archery
When correctly matched, PURE can be used for:
traditional archery,
instinctive archery,
target archery,
3D archery,
recreational shooting,
traditional reflex bows,
selected Asian bows,
selected horseback bows.
For horseback archery, correct arrow length, safe drawing and safe quiver handling are especially important.
How to choose the correct PURE arrow
For the correct selection, we recommend knowing:
bow type,
actual draw weight,
draw length,
required arrow length,
spine,
point weight,
release method.
Erenhill Archery School can help you select the correct length and spine.
Erenhill Archery School and the Vlčí patroni team
The Erenhill Archery School team works with bows and arrows during regular training, coaching, competitions and practical equipment testing.
Our experience with traditional, instinctive, Asian and horseback archery allows us to help assess the correct combination of spine, arrow length and point weight.
If you are unsure which variant to choose, you can bring your bow and check the setup with us.
