Lazecký Pegas 60″ – One-Piece Recurve Bow 28–38 lb

Lazecký Pegas 60″ is a Czech one-piece laminated recurve bow designed for 3D, target, traditional and instinctive archery.

It is available in both right-handed and left-handed configurations and in draw weights of 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38 lb.

Unlike a takedown bow, Pegas uses a permanently bonded one-piece construction without removable limbs.

Pegas is manufactured by Lazecký in the Czech Republic.

It is a modern laminated recurve bow rather than a historical reproduction.

Its construction combines natural wood, fiberglass and a modern Dacron bowstring.

One-piece laminated construction

Pegas is not a takedown bow.

The riser and limbs form a single bonded structure and cannot normally be separated.

This construction provides:

• no removable limb joints,
• fixed bow geometry,
• no limb mounting bolts,
• a permanently defined draw weight for each individual bow.

Compared with a takedown model, the main disadvantage is its full transport length and the inability to change draw weight by simply replacing the limbs.

60-inch bow

The model is designated 60″.

Lazecký also lists a manufacturer dimension of 1450 mm, so both values are retained as specifications of the model.

Pegas is more compact than a typical 68-inch longbow while being substantially longer than a short horsebow.

Draw weights from 28 to 38 lb

Available draw weights are:

Lower draw weights may be more appropriate for technique development and less experienced archers.

Higher draw weights require suitable physical conditioning, correct technique and properly matched arrows.

The strongest available bow is not automatically the best choice.

Right- and left-handed versions

Pegas is available for both right-handed and left-handed archers.

A right-handed archer normally holds the bow in the left hand and draws the string with the right.

The orientation is reversed for the left-handed version.

Walnut, ash and padauk riser

The riser combines:

Dark walnut, lighter ash and the distinctive tone of padauk create the characteristic laminated appearance of Pegas.

Because natural wood is used, grain and colour may vary between individual bows.

The riser features an ergonomic pistol-style grip.

Its defined shape helps the bow hand return to a consistent position from shot to shot.

Ash and black fiberglass limbs

Brownell Dacron B-50

A Brownell Dacron B-50 USA bowstring is included.

Before shooting, inspect:

• nocking area,
• correct seating on the limb tips.

Do not use a damaged bowstring.

Brace height

Set the brace height according to the manufacturer's instructions supplied with the individual bow.

Brace height affects limb position, string alignment and the overall shooting behaviour of the bow.

Recommended arrows

Pegas can be used with:

• carbon arrows.

Recommended arrow lengths are approximately 650–810 mm.

Arrow length, spine and total mass must match the selected draw weight and the archer's actual draw.

The listed maximum recommended arrow length is 810 mm, approximately 32″.

This is not a confirmed maximum draw length of the bow.

Maximum safe draw should therefore not be inferred from the arrow-length specification.

3D archery

Pegas is suitable for 3D archery.

Its one-piece construction, defined grip and 28–38 lb draw-weight range make it suitable for archers with different levels of experience.

For full-day 3D courses, a bow that can be controlled consistently throughout the session is preferable to simply selecting the highest available draw weight.

Traditional and instinctive archery

Pegas can also be used for contemporary traditional and instinctive shooting without modern mechanical sights.

Consistent results depend on:
