Erenhill Fusekle – Leather Bowstring Retainer for Unstrung Bows
Erenhill Fusekle is a compact leather accessory designed to secure the removed bowstring loop on an unstrung traditional or horsebow.
Its purpose is to keep the bowstring together with the bow during storage and transport instead of allowing one end to hang freely.
What is a Fusekle?
When certain traditional reflex bows are unstrung, one bowstring loop can remain on one siyah while the other loop is removed from the opposite tip.
Without additional retention, the loose part of the bowstring may:
- hang beside the bow,
- catch on a bow case,
- become tangled with other equipment,
- move along the limbs,
- make storage less organised.
The Fusekle helps hold the removed loop close to the second siyah.
Designed for bows with siyahs
A siyah is the rigid tip section found on many traditional reflex and horsebows.
The Fusekle is fitted over one siyah only after the bow has been safely unstrung.
It may be suitable for compatible examples of:

- other traditional reflex bows with siyahs.

Adjustable elastic cord

This allows the fit to be adapted to the particular siyah.
The cord should be tightened only enough to keep the Fusekle securely in position. Excessive tightening could place unnecessary pressure on the bow surface, leather or bowstring loop.
Chemically softened calf leather
The leather body is made from chemically softened calf leather.
Because leather is a natural material, individual pieces may show small variations in grain, texture and colour.
The stitched construction forms the shape of the retainer, while regular use may gradually produce a natural patina.
Compact size and low weight
The Fusekle measures approximately 15 × 6 cm and weighs only around 22 g / 0.8 oz.
Its low weight makes it easy to keep with a bow without adding significant weight to the rest of the equipment.
Easier bow storage
Keeping the bowstring alongside the bow can make the equipment easier to organise.
The Fusekle may help with:
- placing an unstrung bow into a case,
- removing the bow from its case,
- transport,
- short-term storage,
- keeping the correct bowstring with the correct bow.
It does not replace a protective bow case or rigid transport case.
Important safety rule
The Fusekle must never remain on the bow while it is being strung or shot.
Before stringing the bow:
- loosen the elastic cord,
- remove the Fusekle from the siyah,
- inspect the bowstring loop,
- inspect both siyah string grooves,
- string the bow using the correct method.
The Fusekle is also not a bow stringer and does not replace proper stringing or unstringing technique.
