Large Animal Target
At 122 cm wide and 74 cm high, the Wild Boar Sow provides a substantial target area.
This makes it particularly useful as a major shooting station on a field course.
Why Train with an Animal Silhouette?
An animal-shaped target creates a different visual challenge from a conventional circular target.
The archer works with:
- an irregular outline,
- varying aiming areas,
- target size,
- shooting distance,
- target placement.
Field Archery
The target can be used as part of a varied field course.
It can be combined with smaller targets to create shooting stations of different difficulty.
3D-Style Training
Although this is a 2D target, the animal silhouette can be useful when preparing for 3D archery.
It allows archers to practise:
- animal-target aiming,
- distance estimation,
- varied target sizes,
- changing shooting positions.
2D vs 3D Target
A 2D target has a defined animal outline and thickness.
A full 3D target reproduces the animal's complete three-dimensional body.
Advantages of the 2D format include:
- lower weight,
- easier handling,
- simpler transport,
- easier storage.
21 cm Thickness
This version has a thickness of:
21 cm
YATE also lists a thinner Bachyně LDX 14 cm version, making the 21 cm designation important when identifying the correct product. YATE.CZ
Bows up to 40 lb
The target is intended for bows up to:
40 lb
If a bow is marked:
40 lb @ 28″
its actual draw weight may be higher when drawn beyond 28 inches.
LDX Materials
The supplied information states that materials related to the ATS LDX range are used with an improved production technology.
Approximate Weight
The target weighs approximately:
6 kg
This provides a useful balance between a large target size and practical handling.
Club Use
The large silhouette is particularly useful for:
- archery clubs,
- coaches,
- archery schools,
- field courses,
- organised training.
Beginners
Beginners can start at a distance where the complete target can be hit safely and consistently.
Experienced Archers
More experienced archers can increase difficulty through:
- longer distances,
- different shooting positions,
- different angles,
- combinations of targets of different sizes.
Target Care
To help preserve the target:
- avoid prolonged heavy compression,
- do not store heavy objects on top of it,
- protect it from sharp objects during transport,
- inspect heavily shot areas regularly.
Removing Arrows
Grip the arrow shaft close to the target and pull it steadily in the direction of penetration.
Do not pull by:
- the fletching,
- vanes,
- the nock.
Safe Shooting Area
Always maintain a safe area or suitable archery backstop behind the target.
This protects against:
- missed shots,
- edge impacts,
- heavily worn target areas.
